Storage Tips for When You Have Too Many Clothes

When you’re running out of closet space, it can feel like you have worn your wardrobe for the umpteenth time. With so many clothes in such limited space, it can be a challenge to figure out how to store the excess.

Here are a few storage tips for when you have too many clothes:

1. If you have too many clothes and a small closet space, consider finding alternative storage solutions. Installing a few shelves to hang sweaters, purses, scarves, and hats can make a great addition to your storage space. Put winter clothes in boxes, or even suitcases, and store them away for the summer. Also, utilize under-the-bed storage for extra pants, sweaters, or jeans. It’s also a great place to store out-of-season shoes;

2. Maximize your closets with thin hangers to gain extra room and doors with shelves to keep shoes neatly organized. Utilize any extra wall space for added storage, by installing hooks for purses or jewelry and shelves for folded items. If you have extra closet space, look for a garment bag or vacuum bags to store large items, such as winter coats and dresses;

3. Consider renting a storage unit. Not only will you have the added space you need, but you can also store items that don’t fit in your closet;

4. Another great storage tip is to donate or sell the items you don’t wear anymore. This can be very liberating, not only freeing up space but also financially rewarding. Offer friends, family, or even thrift stores any items you’re ready to part with. Alternatively, you could take to online platforms such as eBay to make a few extra bucks.
